A Personal Statement from the Owner of Potomac Furbabies

To our clients, neighbors, and community,

The past several days have been among the most difficult our business has ever experienced. Like so many members of our community, I was deeply relieved when Zoe was found safe and reunited with her family.

As a business built around caring for dogs, there are few situations more upsetting than learning that a dog has left our property unexpectedly. The moment we became aware that Zoe was missing, our focus became singular: helping bring her home safely.

Our team immediately contacted the owner, mobilized search efforts, coordinated with community members, and dedicated countless hours to assisting in the search. Throughout those days, many of us experienced the same worry, fear, and uncertainty felt by everyone following Zoe's story.

We are grateful that Zoe was ultimately found safe and that she was able to return home to her family.

In the wake of this incident, there has been a great deal of discussion online and in the media. We understand that people care deeply about animals and that strong emotions often accompany stories involving a missing pet. We respect those feelings.

At the same time, we hope people will remember that behind every business are real people. Our staff members are animal lovers who chose this profession because they genuinely care about dogs. They arrive every day committed to providing attentive, compassionate care and creating a safe environment for the pets entrusted to us.

No business ever wants an incident like this to occur. While unexpected events can happen in any animal care setting, we take this experience seriously. We are carefully reviewing our procedures and evaluating additional measures to further strengthen the safety of our facility.

For those who have supported us, encouraged our team, and taken the time to hear the full story before reaching conclusions, thank you. Your kindness has meant more than you know.

Potomac Furbabies has been built on trust, relationships, and a genuine love for dogs. We do not take that responsibility lightly. We remain committed to learning from this experience, continuing to improve, and providing the level of care our clients expect and deserve.
